We all need inspiration from time to time for our bullet journals. One of the wonderful things about bullet journaling is the amount of ideas that comes into our community from some really inspiring artists. For the moment I want to focus on weekly spreads that have a floral theme.
Upon initial thought about a flower theme you are probably look for pale spreads with wispy watercolor designs. You might be surprised to see just how vibrant floral spreads can be. Bright reds of a poppy themed spread or the sunny yellows of a sunflower theme can really lift your mood throughout the week.
I went looking through weekly spreads on Instagram and found a bunch of super pretty weekly spreads. Before we dive into that I want to give you some tips on drawing flowers.
Drawing Flowers in Your Bullet Journal
Always start with pencil first and create super light outlines of your spreads. This helps create guidelines for you to follow throughout the entire design.
Nothing in nature is perfect, in fact it’s imperfections is what makes nature beautiful. Remember this as you create your spreads.
Just like in nature, nothing in art is perfect either. It’s the imperfections that make art beautiful. Perfection doesn’t always mean beautiful.
Do not be afraid to experiment with different styles and mediums to get the look you want. The worst that could happen is you don’t like it and no one else will ever see it. Do not leave yourself a “I suck at this” note. If you must write something write, “I need more practice.”
Finally, start with a simple design and keep practicing. There is a common misconception that art takes talent, really it just needs practice.
Before we get started here is a list of my recommended supplies.
Recommended ProductsFrom time to time the Scribbles that Matter Journal is sold out on Amazon. When this happens third party sellers will try to sell the journal for an insane amount of money. DO NOT BUY THAT! Scribbles that Matter should be back in stock soon. My second favorite journal is the Essentials Dot Matrix, though I warn you the pages on this one are thinner and bleeding and shadows show up on opposite sides. However, it's a decent cheap journal if you are in a pinch and just want to get started.
